Hi,

I'm getting a checksum mismatch error when I try to restore a repository backed up using SVN Backup Widget. I'm getting the same error with different repositories.

OS: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 2
32-bit.

I have sent the screenshot of the error to support @ systemwidgets . com.

Please help me solve this problem.

Thanks

Jish

Jish,

What is the command you are using to load the dump file? My app is just a pretty UI on top of the svnadmin dump command, so it is not doing anything fancy. Could you create a dump file that doesn't have any sensitive info, and send it to me?

I was in the middle of installing a new email server when you sent your email. Could you please resend it ?

I got your email. Thanks. I still need the following:

1) What was the command and parameters that you used to load the dump file?
2) Was it a full or incremental dump that you were trying to load?
3) Were you trying to load it into a new repository or an existing one?

hi

1) i created a new repository using the command

                                       svnadmin create NewRepo

Then i loaded dumpfile using

                      svnadmin load NewRepo < E:\backup\oldrepo20080402.svndump

2) It was a full dump

3) I was trying to load to a new repository

I use VisualSVN Server

Thanks in advance

Jish

Alright, thanks for the info. I'll look at it tonight.

Another quick question... I thought that VisualSVN Server only handled Subversion repositories with Apache. Are you running Apache server or svnserve.exe to serve Subversion repository content?

Hi,

sorry for the delay in replying.

This is the info i got from the readme file of VisualSVN Server

VisualSVN Server is a package that contains everything you need to install,
configure and manage Subversion server for your team on Windows platform. It
includes Subversion, Apache and a management console.

This distribution contains the following components:
- Subversion 1.4.6
- Apache 2.2.8
- OpenSSL 0.9.8g
- ZLib 1.2.3
- Neon 0.27.2

i suppose that answers your question. its apache.

Thanks

Jish

Jish,

I haven't been able to reproduce this error at all. I've exported several of my large repositories, and imported them into new repositories without problems.

One thing that I did notice is that I wasn't able to create a new repository if I didn't specify the --fs-type argument after the svnadmin create NewRepo command.

That checksum error means that the dump file was probably changed after it was created. Like I said before, SVN Backup Widget is not doing anything fancy, all it's doing is calling the svn dump command directly.

I finally figured out what was happening here. I know this post gets picked up by Google searches quite a bit. I put the explanation to what is happening on my blog.
