New Logo! New Logo!

Here are the gory details on how I did this:

I started with a blank 256 by 256 pixel canvas. Next, I dropped the red glossy square from the "Pack 1 - Glossy Buttons" Square folder. I went and found what the color for those RSS icons was (#F99432) and used that as the base. So now I have a orange square. I cycled through the white shapes, looking for something that would remind me of either System or Configuration. I found a hammer and a wrench that were crossing each other. This graphic is in the same package, but in the Symbols folder. It is called "Symbol Tools.png." This is exactly what I wanted!

Now I have the base icon that I want to use. I now started playing with the glassy effects. This took me around 30 minutes, until I got the effect that I wanted. There were something like18 different glassy effects. I saved this with a new name. So now I have a base graphic, and now a glassy graphic.

My last endeavor was to get a border that I was happy with. I started by looking in the "Pack 2 - Vista Buttons" package. I tried several different combinations until I settled on "Border - 02.png" graphic. I added an inner shadow, and the "Border - Glossy.png" effect. This only took me around 15 minutes.

I exported this to a gif. I realized that 256 by 256 was too big. I kept exporting, until I found that 96 by 96 pixels would work well for this DotNetNuke skin's logo region.

Total time was around 2 hours.
